Is 'Sinners' good?


 Yeah, I still haven't seen it. You know I would have watched it if only the film was released in my area. It's coming out on 8 May 2025. So the earliest I can see it is May 8th. By that point, all the hype may have died out.

But wow. What is going on right now? Why is everyone talking about 'Sinners'? SO what is 'Sinners'? 'Sinners' is Ryan Coogler's newest film and apparently it's his best and one of the best films of this year. Getting absolutely insane reviews from Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, Letterboxd, etc. Critics and audience all seems to love it. 

Really? This film with a 1930 setting and vampire plot is the best film of the year? Really? 

Anyway, when I saw the trailer, I thought it looked extremely beautiful and the I'm extremely excited about the vampire plot. I heard that Ludwig Goransson's score is amazing too. Once I see the film I'll be able to talk about it honestly and give my thoughts. So until then, if you haven't seen the film already, listen to everyone and just go watch it(if you can). I know that's what I would do.

 "Peacemaker" season 2 is the highly anticipated follow up to "Superman" and the third project of the DCU. I'm going to get into spoilers in this review so please keep that in mind.  To begin, I think what James Gunn did here with how he slightly changed season 1 in order to make it work in the DCU makes sense. Changing the Justice League in season 1 to be the Justice Gang instead. And then changing some other stuff so that season 2 makes sense was a good idea. This season is mostly about John Cena's character, not Peacemaker, but Christopher Smith discovering a door that takes him to a universe where his father and his brother are still alive. And they're nice to him! So he wants to stay there because he thinks it's the "best universe ever." Now, that plot alone is brilliant. "One battle after another" spoiler-free review

 The newest Paul Thomas Anderson movie. Everyone says it's a masterpiece but is it true? I wasn't originally going to write this review but I just had to since everyone was talking about it. "One battle after another" is pretty good. I think the best part of this movie is its craft. The camera work is done so confidently that shows that PTA is now a master of directing. There are multiple long scenes that just carry on with such energy. The camera does a lot. The fact that it was shot on VISTAVISION does help too. The cinematography in the desert definitely gives a lot of neo-western vibes similar to that of "No country for old men." Extremely well shot film. The film does feel like we are moving from following different characters. Maybe this is a bit too messy for me. The film has too many characters and can't juggle them that well. 4th annual Dumpling Awards (2024 movies)

(Still from 'The Brutalist') I used to do an annual awarding system every year for the best films I've seen that year. I used to do it as soon as the year ended around January or February. But I found that there were still many films that I couldn't see by that point. Therefore, recently I've changed to doing it during the summer. I have done this 3 years now and this is the 4th annual Dumpling awards that covers films of 2024 (all eligible films listed here ).
