'Weapons' trailer
'Weapons' is probably my most anticipated film for the rest of the year. The other films are 'One battle after another', 'Bugonia', 'Zootopia 2', 'Eddington', 'After the hunt', and 'Wake up dead man.'
The test reactions have been through the roof for 'Weapons.' Every single time I hear some news about this film, it's always something insane. When I first heard about a new Zach Cregger film coming off of his highly successful 'Barbarian', I heard that there was a bidding war between studios in order to obtain the rights to the screenplay. I believe Zach Cregger still has final cut privilege with this film.
When I heard the trailer screened at Cinemacon, I heard everyone went crazy for it. WOW. Is it really that good? Is it really gonna be that good? What's so great about it? What's so exciting? What I'm most excited about is probably the plot and the structure. The plot is about a group of children from one class goes missing one night(probably something supernatural at play). This feels like 'It' but probably less conventional.
I heard that the film is structured so that it is told through multiple perspectives. Kind of like 'Magnolia' which I saw recently and respected but not particularly loved.
Anyway, talking about the trailer: I think the trailer is just ok. The teaser they released was super exciting because we got some creepy images of children running out of their homes with their arms to the side. The official trailer gave us more characters, dialogue, and even some horror images. I think the trailer definitely felt more like a conventional horror film. Kind of felt like it could have been adapted from a Stephen King novel. We'll see how it goes.
After watching the trailer, I think the children might be evil or something. I've also heard a theory that the teacher is being punished by a supernatural force for doing something bad. It could really be anything. I like that the trailer doesn't reveal anything(unlike 'Now you see me: now you don't') and keeps you guessing.
One final thing: the poster is also out which you can see below. I think it looks very bad.
