Wes Anderson's newest 'The Phoenician Scheme' trailer is released
I've been waiting for this trailer. Wes Anderson announced about 2 weeks ago that the trailer for 'The Phoenician Scheme' would be released last week. It wasn't. I don't know why. Maybe they were waiting for it to premiere at CinemaCon before it was publicly released or maybe there were some technical difficulties like 'One Battle After Another' seemingly faced.
With regards to the trailer, I think it's a bit messy. Obviously I shouldn't be judging the film based off of the trailer (which I'm not doing), but I do hope this trailer is not reflecting how the actual film will be. It seems that the trailer reveals quite a lot regarding the plot compared to other Wes Anderson's trailers. That's ok because I'm still interested and I don't feel spoiled.
Benicio del Toro is the leading actor and this film does look more in line with 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' than with 'The French Dispatch' and "Asteroid City.' This may be good news to a lot of Anderson's fans but I particularly liked 'Asteroid City' and loved the direction he was stepping in. It seems like he is stepping back (maybe a good thing?) to his usual films.
I think this film looks like an adventure film with quite a lot of action in it. Maybe it will have even more action than 'The Grand Budapest Hotel.'
Oh, and also, this time Robert Yeoman will not be the cinematographer and he has been replaced with Bruno Delbonnel. Wes Anderson's visual style seems to still exist so I guess it didn't make much of a difference. The original score in the film is not particularly interesting me even though it is still Alexandre Desplat who made an amazing score in 'The French Dispatch.'
I'm excited and this film will probably go to Cannes judging by the limited release date of May 30th and wide release date of June 6th.
