'Weapons' trailer

Image
' Weapons ' is probably my most anticipated film for the rest of the year. The other films are 'One battle after another', 'Bugonia', 'Zootopia 2', 'Eddington', 'After the hunt', and 'Wake up dead man.'  The test reactions have been through the roof for 'Weapons.' Every single time I hear some news about this film, it's always something insane. When I first heard about a new Zach Cregger film coming off of his highly successful 'Barbarian', I heard that there was a bidding war between studios in order to obtain the rights to the screenplay. I believe Zach Cregger still has final cut privilege with this film.  When I heard the trailer screened at Cinemacon, I heard everyone went crazy for it. WOW. Is it really that good? Is it really gonna be that good? What's so great about it? What's so exciting? What I'm most excited about is probably the plot and the structure. The plot is about a group of chil...

The magicians are superheroes now?

Image
'Now You See Me: Now You Don't' trailer is out.  'Now you see me: now you don't" shows the original cast back (except for Mark Ruffalo?) and some new members including Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Rosamund Pike. Apparently, the magicians are now superheroes. They can go in other people's bodies and teleport. At least in the previous films, the magicians were teleporting within the context of a magic trick. In this trailer, we see them do it to fight criminals... What? Does that make sense? I guess they're leaning into the action but the series was never an action series to begin with.  The trailer also gives off a lot of the plot. I hope there is more to the film than what the trailer gave us. The film is from the same director as 'Zombieland' (Ruben Fleischer), so if he's able to translate that comedic tone in that film into the franchise, I think it would be nice.  But I'm really not sure about this plot. The...

Is 'Sinners' good?

Image
Yeah, I still haven't seen it. You know I would have watched it if only the film was released in my area. It's coming out on 8 May 2025. So the earliest I can see it is May 8th. By that point, all the hype may have died out. But wow. What is going on right now? Why is everyone talking about 'Sinners'? SO what is 'Sinners'? 'Sinners' is Ryan Coogler's newest film and apparently it's his best and one of the best films of this year. Getting absolutely insane reviews from Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, Letterboxd, etc. Critics and audience all seems to love it.  Really? This film with a 1930 setting and vampire plot is the best film of the year? Really?  Anyway, when I saw the trailer, I thought it looked extremely beautiful and the I'm extremely excited about the vampire plot. I heard that Ludwig Goransson's score is amazing too. Once I see the film I'll be able to talk about it honestly and give my thoughts. So until then, if you h...

'Eddington' trailer: New Aster film and premiering at Cannes next month

Image
UPDATE: Now it's called official teaser. Which means we'll be getting more.  The official trailer for the new Ari Aster film 'Eddington' is out. When the poster came out after the Cannes official selection announcement, I thought it looked really awesome. It's actually originally an untitled piece by David Wojnarowicz. Possibly the bison bison is symbolizing USA itself and its fall? Anyway, the 1 minute official trailer dropped today and it seems a bit lame. I don't know. Maybe a trailer should get us more excited about a film but instead we just watch Joaquin Phoenix scroll through Instagram for a minute. The posts on Instagram are not particularly interesting. My favorite was Austin Butler's speech and I do hope we get a lot of him in the film. The best part of the trailer was the score by Bobby Krlic. I didn't particularly enjoy his original score in 'Beau is afraid' (Aster's previous film) but the one in this trailer is quite good. I won...

Wes Anderson's newest 'The Phoenician Scheme' trailer is released

Image
I've been waiting for this trailer . Wes Anderson announced about 2 weeks ago that the trailer for 'The Phoenician Scheme' would be released last week. It wasn't. I don't know why. Maybe they were waiting for it to premiere at CinemaCon before it was publicly released or maybe there were some technical difficulties like 'One Battle After Another' seemingly faced. With regards to the trailer, I think it's a bit messy. Obviously I shouldn't be judging the film based off of the trailer (which I'm not doing), but I do hope this trailer is not reflecting how the actual film will be. It seems that the trailer reveals quite a lot regarding the plot compared to other Wes Anderson's trailers. That's ok because I'm still interested and I don't feel spoiled. Benicio del Toro is the leading actor and this film does look more in line with 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' than with 'The French Dispatch' and "Asteroid City.'...
